Easy to Fabricate
Plastic materials that are easy to fabricate
Many plastic materials can be fabricated using common cutting, routing, drilling, machining, and shaping methods. For best results, use sharp blades, bits, and tooling designed for plastic fabrication and machined parts to help reduce stress, improve edge quality, and achieve the required surface finish.
ABS, acetal, nylon, and acrylic are commonly selected when plastic parts need to be sawed, routed, drilled, shaped, or machined. Material choice should account for the fabrication method, part geometry, dimensional requirements, operating environment, and whether the finished part will need additional forming, bonding, welding, or assembly.
Use this page as a starting point to compare plastics that are easy to fabricate, then review Curbell’s plastic machining guidelines, explore plastic part design support, ask a plastics expert for help with your application, or request a quote.
Curbell Plastics can help you:
- Compare plastic materials that are easier to cut, route, drill, shape, machine, or form.
- Evaluate fabrication considerations such as tooling, part geometry, dimensional requirements, surface finish, stress, and operating environment.
- Identify plastic materials, fabrication methods, machining guidance, or design support to consider for your application.
