Good Electrical Insulation
Electrical insulating plastics for components and equipment
Plastic materials are commonly used for electrical insulation because many polymers offer high dielectric strength, low electrical conductivity, and resistance to heat or flame depending on the grade. Materials such as G10/FR-4, Ultem®, PEEK, PTFE, and other engineering plastics may be selected for insulating parts, electrical components, equipment housings, spacers, washers, and related applications.
Use this page as a starting point to compare plastics for electrical insulation, then review the plastic properties table or get a quote for your application. When electrical standards, flame ratings, or documentation are required, review the material data sheet and confirm the right grade before specifying a plastic.
Curbell Plastics can help you:
- Compare dielectric strength, temperature range, and flame-resistance considerations.
- Evaluate plastics used for electrical insulation, components, and equipment.
- Identify material options to consider for your application, documentation, and fabrication needs.
