Stain resistant plastic materials are used in food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, machinery, and washdown applications where parts may be exposed to colorants, cleaning chemicals, process fluids, or repeated cleaning. PET and PEEK may be considered where resistance to staining, discoloration, chemical exposure, dimensional change, or wear is important.

Staining behavior depends on the material, staining agent, concentration, exposure time, temperature, surface finish, and cleaning process. PET is often specified for tight-tolerance food processing machinery applications, while PEEK may be considered for applications that require chemical resistance and higher temperature performance.
