Acetal Properties

Physical, mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical properties of acetal

Acetal (polyoxymethylene or POM) is a high strength, low friction, semi-crystalline engineering plastic with excellent wear and abrasion properties in both wet and dry environments. It has low moisture absorption and is chemically resistant to hydrocarbons, solvents, and neutral chemicals. Acetal is easy to machine and an outstanding choice for applications that require complex, tight tolerances. It’s widely used for machinery parts, bearings and bushings, pump and valve parts, and many other applications.

Acetal is available in both homopolymer (Delrin®) and copolymer formulations and a number of other grades. Please ask your Curbell Plastics representative for more information about a specific grade.
