Curbell Plastics Supports Hood to Coast Relay Team with Acrylic Donation

Orchard Park, N.Y., September 15, 2026 – The Seattle location of Curbell Plastics, Inc. donated clear acrylic to Team Buffalo, a Seattle-area group that participated in the 2026 Providence Hood to Coast Relay.

Held August 28–29, the relay took teams across 196 miles from Mount Hood to the Pacific Ocean. Team Buffalo’s 12 runners and two drivers needed a highly visible sign to help them locate one another among the many vehicles gathered at exchange points throughout the day-and-night event.

After team lead Tyler Wain approached Curbell with his plans, the Seattle sales team provided a 48-by-48-inch sheet of ¼-inch-thick clear cast acrylic for the project.

“Tyler came to us with a creative idea and a clear vision for how the material would be used,” said Brandon Zasio, Seattle Business Manager. “Our team was happy to provide the acrylic to help Team Buffalo navigate the relay while supporting an important cause.”

Wain routed a buffalo design into the acrylic, added multicolor lighting powered by 20-volt batteries and attached the finished sign to an extendable pole. The illuminated buffalo rose roughly 10 feet above most other team signs, allowing runners to spot it across crowded exchanges.

“The sign turned out even better than I hoped,” said Wain. “Our runners could spot us from across the exchanges, and people kept stopping to ask how we made it. There is no way I could have built it without the acrylic Curbell donated.”

Team Buffalo successfully reached the coast while raising funds for Providence Cancer Institute, the official charity partner of the Hood and Portland to Coast Relays. By reducing the team’s project expenses, the material donation allowed more of its fundraising to support cancer research, treatment, and patient services.
