Thermal Spray Tapes
High temperature thermal tapes for plasma spray, flame spray, and grit blasting applications
Plasma spray and flame spray thermal tapes are all created to withstand high temperature during the most demanding plasma spray, flame spray, and grit blasting applications. These thermal spray tapes are known to resist fray and will release easily without leaving adhesive residue.

THERMAL SPRAY TAPE OPTIONS
CHR® 2905-7R– is a double-sided adhesive with a release liner that has a wide variety of uses in the plasma thermal spray market. It is extremely stable allowing it to withstand temperatures up to 500°F, has exceptional flex strength, and exhibits excellent abrasion and edge tear resistance.
It is most widely used as a high temperature masking tape for plating or plasma spray coatings. 2905-7R is also used as a holding tape, as a wrap for coils and transformers, and for high temperature splicing.
CHR® 2915-7– is a single-sided adhesive that performs as a light duty plasma or flame spray masking tape. It is a very versatile tape without a release liner. 2915-7 is thermally stable, strong, and abrasion, solvent, and temperature resistant.
Applications range from general industry electrical maintenance to high-temperature slicing and wrapping. Some specific applications are over-wrap on motor rewinds, protective wrapping for wire and cables, and high temperature masking tape for welding stainless steel.

CHR® 2925-7– is a pressure sensitive fiberglass cloth laminated to an aluminum foil.
It is designed to be used in high heat environments as a reflecting tape and can also be used to dampen sound or vibration. It is used in the aerospace and automotive markets as a wire wrap for harnesses as well as an alternative tape for plasma spray coating and grit blasting operations.
CHR® 2975-8R/CHR® 2975-8RK– has a silicone treatment on one side and is applied adjacent to areas of parts, which are to be plasma sprayed. This tape offers protection from both grit blasting, which is used as a surface preparation, and from the actual plasma spray coating. It is designed to withstand both the punishing abrasion of grit blasting and the extreme temperatures/pressures associated with the plasma spray process. The adhesive is a high temperature silicone, which allows the product to withstand continuous temperatures up to 500°. It has excellent strength and flexibility, which allows for easy wrapping of complex shapes and minimizes wrinkling during the flexing of cables. 2975-8R has a yellow PVC release liner and 2975-8RK has a clear fluorosilicone release liner.
CHR® 2975 is used by jet engine manufacturers, overhaul centers, major airline maintenance centers, Air Force Bases, and Naval Air Rework Facilities (NARF’S).
CHR® HV60-26R– is a tape specially designed to withstand the extreme operating conditions found in HVOF thermal spray applications. It is an excellent replacement for expensive hard masking, and demonstrates exceptionally high temperature resistance. HV60-26R is flexible, conformable, and will maintain its masking integrity through the HVOF process. It leaves a crisp mask line behind with no residue to clean up.
Applications include any HVOF thermal spray operation. The product will meet Pratt & Whitney PMC 4667.
Tech Tip– Thermal spray tapes are an excellent choice for combining conformability with thermal and abrasion resistance while protecting adjacent surfaces from spray.
