Industry Group Honors Curbell Plastics with Gold Awards in Education and Environmental Stewardship

Orchard Park, NY, November 28, 2017 – Orchard Park-based Curbell Plastics, Inc., one of the nation’s premier suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives, sealants, and prototyping materials, was recently recognized by the International Association of Plastics Distributors (IAPD), for excellence in education and environmental responsibility. Both honors were Gold Level Awards and follow previous recognition in both areas from the leading industry trade group. The awards were presented at the 61st Annual IAPD Convention and Plastics Expo in Chicago last month.

The Environmental Committee of IAPD established the Environmental Awards in 2008 as a way to celebrate the environmentally responsible practices of IAPD member companies, including recycling, conservation, community outreach, employee engagement, and more. Curbell has been a leader in the area of environmental stewardship for some time and was recognized by IAPD for environmental excellence in 2015 and 2016. They are the only company to have been recognized as a Gold Level award winner for three years in a row. With more companies following Curbell Plastics’ example in environmental responsibility; as a result, this year IAPD saw the highest number of submissions for the award since it was established.

Mark Shriver, Director of Safety and Environmental Affairs, commented, “While we are thrilled again to be recognized by our industry peers for leadership in environmental issues, we are equally gratified to see the increased number of companies making sound environmental practices a priority. Doing so provides economic as well as environmental benefits, and we are increasingly seeing our employees and our customers demand responsible stewardship.”

This year marks the second year in a row that Curbell has been honored with the Gold Level Education Circle of Champions IAPD Award. They are one of six Gold Level award winners in recognition of the commitment to plastics education and sales training. Curbell Plastics was cited both for its use of IAPD training resources as well as for its extensive internal training programs. Curbell recognizes that employees learn in a variety of ways and has placed focus on the importance of continually reinforcing critical information through a combination of online classes, reflection activities, and traditional classroom settings.
