Orchard Park, NY, September 28, 2016 – Orchard Park-based Curbell Plastics, Inc., one of the nation’s premier suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives, sealants, and prototyping materials has become a sponsor of First Swim and First Dance, two events held in Dallas, Texas, through the Orthotics and Prosthetics Activities Foundation (OPAF). The organization offers a number of events designed to provide introductory level adaptive recreation for anyone with a physical or mobility challenge.

Curbell Plastics made a financial contribution to support the events after being approached by students in the Orthotics and Prosthetics Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School who were organizing the event in partnership with OPAF. OPAF typically partners with local organizations to host and organize events in their respective communities.

According to Jeff Wilson, Business Development Manager, Orthotics, Prosthetics, & Podiatry at Curbell Plastics, “The O&P program at UT Southwestern has been a valued customer of ours for some time so we were happy to be able to help the students reach their sponsorship fundraising goal in order to host the events which make a difference in the lives of those who are impacted by mobility or physical challenges.”Both First Swim and First Dance were held at the Bachman Therapeutic Recreation Center in Dallas on Saturday, September 17. These events are designed to provide a safe, comfortable environment for those with physical or mobility challenges to get comfortable in social and recreational settings. OPAF enables individuals served by the orthotics and prosthetics community to enjoy the rewards of personal achievement, physical fitness, and social interaction. In addition to organizing the events, students from UT Southwestern, also participated providing support and guidance to the participants.

Support from Curbell Plastics helped to cover costs associated with the event including instructors, refreshments, give-aways, and other expenses.
