Orchard Park, NY, April 19, 2018 – Orchard Park-based Curbell Plastics, Inc., one of the nation’s premier suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives, sealants, and prototyping materials, has released a technical paper entitled, Plastic Diffuser Solutions for LED Lighting. The paper describes how new plastic film and sheet materials are being used to create aesthetically pleasing LED light fixtures.
Keith Hechtel, Senior Director of Business Development for Curbell Plastics, commented on the paper. “LED lamps are bright, reliable, and energy efficient. However, LEDs tend to create concentrated pinpoints of light that are difficult to diffuse. The paper describes new plastic materials that are engineered to transmit and diffuse light generated by LED lamps. It includes detailed descriptions of the acrylic and polycarbonate film and sheet materials that are available including the strengths and limitations of each material. We think that this will be a great technical resource for designers of architectural and commercial light fixtures, backlighted signs, transportation lighting, and point-of-purchase displays.”
