Orchard Park, N.Y., December 30, 2015 – Curbell Plastics, Inc., one of the nation’s premier suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives, sealants, and prototyping materials, recently partnered with Plaskolite, the world’s largest manufacturer of acrylic sheet, to donate 10 sheets of clear acrylic mirror, valued at $3,000, to Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program (DBG). The donated materials were used to create mirrored walls in their new 27,500-square-foot building on East Vernor Highway in Detroit, which houses two boxing rings, a training facility, computer lab, study rooms, and executive offices.

Curbell Plastics donates to Detroit non-profit boxing program

DBG is a Detroit-area non-profit organization that develops good citizenship in urban youth through a demanding boxing program, strong academic support and a connection to the community through voluntary service. DBG serves children primarily from the East side of Detroit, 94 percent of whom live at or below the poverty line, and recently moved into the new facility in order to serve more children. The program has had a significant success rate as 100 percent of their participants have graduated high school and 96 percent have continued on to college.

According to Bradley Morton, Business Manager of Curbell’s Detroit office, “When we learned about the DBG and the great work they are doing with underserved youth, we were more than happy to help out. When we contacted our partner Plaskolite, Inc., they did not hesitate to contribute as they also understand the importance of providing a place for kids to have a positive, engaging environment to focus on academics and have some fun.”

Curbell Plastics, Inc. strategy of investing for the long term and focus on customer needs has led the organization to grow from a small machine shop to one of the nation’s leading suppliers of plastic materials serving commercial and industrial customers since 1942.
