Kaitlyn Schwab is an Inside Sales Representative for the Curbell Plastics San Diego location. Kaitlyn began her career at Curbell as an Inside Sales Representative at the Western New York branch in 2018. “Inside Sales for Curbell Plastics is a combination of customer service and sales,” she explained, “I run the day to day service tasks for my territory: processing orders, quoting materials, working on larger projects, managing blanket orders, or delivering invoices.” When a new customer or new project for an existing customer comes to her, Kaitlyn’s ready to meet their needs.
Outside the office, Kaitlyn loves being active and anything watersports related. While in the Buffalo, NY area, she spent a lot of time on Lake Erie and the surrounding waterways kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and swimming. Now she’s swapped a Great Lake for the Pacific Ocean and enjoys those activities and others year-round!
A Partner in Your Success
A high level of customer service is at the heart of everything Kaitlyn does. She is quick to give credit to Curbell for enabling her to confidently provide solutions to material challenges. “Customers might have a project” she shared, “and lists the limitations or restrictions, the end goal, and maybe some things about the application they’ve struggled with in the past. I can take that information and explore material options for them so we can suggest materials with the least amount of production down time.” Kaitlyn goes a step further with her customer relations to inquire about other challenges they might have faced in the past, such as supplier frustrations, or material issues such as long lead times. It’s her mission to ease or eliminate those issues so her customer’s operations can run smoothly. “We are a distributor,” she acknowledged, “customers choose to use Curbell because of the value we add to their process.” Kaitlyn shares that the high level of service she provides wouldn’t be possible without the strong team collaboration among her co-workers and leadership. She is ready to give her best customer service to the customers she doesn’t manage directly, and knows her team mates are providing the same excellent service to hers when she’s unavailable.
A successful customer service story that came to mind was for a fitness equipment manufacturer experiencing difficulties with the plastic that went over metal components of their machines. “Their biggest heartache with their previous supplier was on-time delivery,” Kaitlyn recalled, “they also struggled with flimsy plastics that broke easily, and communication between the company and the supplier suffered. Their pricing was decent, but the freight costs incurred with incorrect, late, and rush shipments was overwhelming.” The manufacturer reluctantly gave Curbell a chance; and Kaitlyn, along with her outside sales representative, and others at Curbell turned their opinion of plastics distributors around. Together they addressed the material quality issues, fabrication challenges, solved lead time issues, and proactively communicated with the manufacturer regularly to keep a sharp eye on the needs of their evolving product line. “We hope to do business with them for a long time,” she said.
