Jinny Kcehowski, Associate Director of Training & Development, began her career at Curbell Plastics in 2007, eleven days after graduating from Saint Vincent College. So, what convinced this new graduate to take the Inside Sales Representative position and relocate to an area hundreds of miles away from family and friends? Eddie Howe, a genuine, spirited leader, along with a Curbell Plastics branch filled with colleagues that immediately felt like family.
In the Inside Sales role, Jinny was exposed to a breadth of markets and applications in the plastics distribution industry. Since the Pittsburgh branch is a center of excellence for SentryGlas® and other security glazing materials, Jinny was often interacting with laminators and glass and glazing vendors. After nearly two years in the role, she had a professional awakening that would ultimately chart the course of her career at Curbell Plastics.
It was through her involvement in an SAP Focus Group at Curbell which involved training others that Jinny realized her true passion resided in Learning and Development. As a result, she helped draft the job description and then transitioned, with great courage and determination, into the company’s first ever full-time training position in 2009.
Since then, her major achievements have accrued. Accomplishments include crafting and automating the company’s first comprehensive onboarding program and implementing a formal Train the Trainer program, “flipping the classroom” for two of Curbell’s legacy instructor-led training programs, and increasing overall user adoption and engagement on the company’s learning management system which is hosted by Cornerstone OnDemand.
In 2016, Jinny was interviewed by ReWork Magazine and featured in the online article, “How Curbell Plastics Built a Training Program that Employees Love” after Curbell was nominated for a Cornerstone RAVE Award in the User Adoption category. Since 2016, Jinny and the Curbell Plastics Training Team have been recognized and honored by their industry association, the International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD), with consecutive Gold Level Education Circle of Champions Awards for their commitment to continuing plastics education and sales training.
Jinny subscribes to the following Randy Pausch quote, ‘there is no such thing as luck; luck is where preparation meets opportunity’. Jinny is constantly learning, reading, and challenging herself and her team. Regardless of what falls in her path, she perseveres because of this preparedness and willingness to learn.
In 2019, Jinny was promoted to the Senior Management Team and now serves as the Associate Director of Training & Development. Her most visible contribution, and that which plays to her greatest strength, is that of an activator. Jinny has the ability to take an idea and give it the necessary structure and energy to make it come to life; there’s no better example than the Ninja Warriors theme for 3Ps. Jinny also serves as an intermediary when bridging perspectives on the generational spectrum – demonstrating strong respect for mature members of the Senior Team as well as the next generation of employees and leaders and their respective principles and values. A complex undertaking for sure, but a necessity for evolution and sustainability.
Servant Leader for Women in Plastics
Jinny serves as chair of the IAPD Women in Plastics Committee. This committee supports women through mentoring, education, personal, and professional development in order to attract, retain, and advance women within the plastics industry. In her role, she actively promotes the vision and mission of the IAPD Women in Plastics group by assisting with the organization and execution of quarterly regional networking events and educational workshops.
Outside of work, Jinny enjoys spending time with her family – husband Justin, and two children, Jase and Morgan, plus three furry children, all whom call Central PA home. But it’s her fitness regimen that sustains her. Though always athletic, Jinny never considered herself a runner. She began the sport after a dear friend and colleague passed away. She continually challenges herself and just completed her third full marathon—yes, she’s hooked. For Jinny, physical fitness is not about the physicality but the mental liberation—it’s all about inner strength and gratitude.

Jinny embraced its value—consistent, repeatable, scalable, and sustainable experiential training that creates a learned workforce and a loyal group of training evangelists who often after volunteering go on to experience greater career success at Curbell. Jinny recognizes that a great training program creates greater opportunity and upward mobility—all of which impacts results and the overall qualitative and financial success of a company.
