Barry Smith, Senior Outside Sales Representative in our Syracuse location, manages a territory for Curbell Plastics that includes Central and Eastern New York along with northeastern Pennsylvania.
Performance plastics have been at the center of Barry’s professional world for virtually his entire career. Barry began working with plastics in the screen-printing and sign-making industry over 30 years ago, and later expanded his skillset into the converting and die-cutting industry. Long before he joined Curbell Plastics in 2018, he came to know the company and its offerings well as a customer and vendor to Curbell. He also has extensive experience with offset, flexographic, screen, digital, and pad printing, as well as advertising graphic design and photography.
Barry’s unique, well-rounded background gives his customers an advantage as they work with him to find innovative solutions to their toughest material challenges. But Barry is quick to point out that he draws just as much energy from teaming up with his customers and colleagues as he does from his deep industry knowledge. Whether working with the president of a company, engineers, marketing teams, or purchasing and maintenance departments, Barry knows the foundation to mutual success is listening to what his customers are telling him.
“Listening and asking the right questions are the keys to finding the proper solution for our customers,” he says. “I love learning about the dynamic companies in my territory and meeting the amazing people that I get to work with. I am passionate about customer service — making sure our customers get what they need, when they need it.”
In his free time, Barry enjoys sports, music, landscaping, nature, and hiking.

Delving deeper into his customer service philosophy, Barry adds, “In my career I have assisted in thousands of applications. Each application was the most important one to that specific customer at that given time. The fun lies in the interaction, teamwork, and determination to make the world better.
