Overview RAKU-TOOL® tooling boards take the place of wood and metal in models, patterns, molds, jigs and fixtures. They are lighter and more economical than steel and aluminum. They also do not suffer from the grain and poor dimensional stability of wood.

RAKU-TOOL tooling boards offer the finest cell structure and unsurpassed consistency. More than a dozen grades are available - ranging in density, machining speed, strength and cost - to suit many different applications.

  • RAKU-TOOL Styling Boards (SB)

Styling boards are very economical low-density boards for use in styling models for visual verification. These SB grades offer the lowest compressive and flexural strength values but machine very quickly.

Four styling board grades are available:

    SB-0160, SB-0240, SB-0320, SB-0470

  • RAKU-TOOL Modeling Boards (MB)

Modeling boards are useful in numerous applications including patterns, master models, and presentation models. These are our most popular grades, offering an attractive balance of medium strength, density machining speed, and cost. The MB grades exhibit exceptionally fine cell structure. This results in a superior surface, compared to other boards of equal density. The boards are resistant to attack by parting agents and can be easily bonded together with a variety of adhesives. Like all RAKU-TOOL grades, the modeling board grades exhibit excellent consistency and superb dimensional stability.

Four modeling board grades are used by a wide variety of users:

    MB-0600, MB-0670, MB-0720

  • RAKU-TOOL Working Boards (WB)

Working boards are our most dense and strongest boards. They are also our highest cost boards and they require relatively slow machining speeds due to their high density. These grades are used for foundry patterns, metal forming applications, jigs, and fixtures.

Six working board grades are available:

    WB-0700, WB-0740, WB-0801, WB-1405, WB-1450, WB-1700

Introducing a new red foundry board, polyurethane board WB-1405, resists chipping during machining of tight radii ("knife edges").
WB-1450, Eco-friendly
A "greener" tooling board, polyurethane board WB-1450, is made using predominantly recycled polyols from tooling board dust and chips.
WB-1700

NOTE: Several other grades are available. For additional information on tooling boards, contact your local Curbell Plastics representative or call Curbell at 1-888-287-2355.
