Overview DuPont™ Vespel® polyimide is an extremely high temperature, creep resistant material that is often used in high heat environments where thermoplastic materials would lose their mechanical properties.

Vespel® is available in a variety of formulations including several bearing and
wear grades.

Vespel® S Line

    Vespel® SP-1

Vespel® SP-1 has outstanding sealing properties when it interfaces with metal mating parts. These properties make Vespel® ideal for use in unlubricated,
high temperature, and high pressure or high vacuum valve seat and gasket applications.

Bearing Grades of Vespel® S Line

    Vespel® SP-21, SP-22, SP-211, and SP-3
Bearing grades of Vespel® will operate successfully without lubrication in
high load, high speed, and/or high temperature environments where thermoplastic bearings and many metal bearing materials will quickly fail.

Vespel® SCP Line

Vespel® SCP-5000 Technology advances have led to the development of DuPont™ Vespel®
    SCP-5000
developed for demanding applications that require toughness, thermal and dimensional stability, chemical resistance and stable dielectric performance across a broad temperature range.

Vespel® SCP-5000 is a good candidate for applications such as CMP retaining rings, test sockets, substrate lift pins or any other application that requires high temperature and/or high wear resistance with low outgassing.

    Compared to Vespel® SP-1, SCP-5000 offers:
    • Higher modulus, strength, and surface hardness
    • Improved dimensional stability

Bearing Grades of Vespel® SCP Line

Vespel® SCP-5050 and SCP-50094 shapes employ new filler technologies for lower friction and enhanced wear resistance.
