Overview
POLYCARBONATE is a transparent thermoplastic material with good strength and stiffness and outstanding impact resistance.
Polycarbonate thermoforms well, is easy to paint, and bonds well using solvents or adhesives.
Polycarbonate's toughness and optical clarity make it ideal for a wide variety of applications including:
Machine guards
Indoor and outdoor signs
Architectural glazing
Face shields
Skylights
Card racks
Table tents
Point-of-purchase displays
Polycarbonate rod and plate are easy to machine and have excellent dimensional stability. Machine grade polycarbonate is used for numerous applications including electrical components, manifolds, site glasses, and semiconductor machinery parts.
MAKROLON® AR Polycarbonate Sheet
MAKROLON® AR is polycarbonate sheet with a transparent hard coat finish, which provides the material with enhanced weatherability, chemical resistance, and abrasion resistance. It is often used for glazing applications in high traffic areas such as bus shelters.
MAKROLON Hygard® BR Polycarbonate Sheet
MAKROLON Hygard® laminates are bullet-resistant sheet materials consisting of layers of polycarbonate or polycarbonate and acrylic with bonding interlayers. MAKROLON Hygard® is used for security glazing applications including police stations and detention centers. The material is available in a variety of configurations depending on the level of protection required.
MAKROLON® SL Polycarbonate Sheet
MAKROLON® SL polycarbonate sheet has enhanced UV resistance as well as exceptional weatherability and superior impact strength. MAKROLON SL combines the impact protection of MAKROLON polycarbonate sheet with enhanced UV protection. SL sheet also has the design and structural advantage of thermoformability.
MAKROLON® 15 Polycarbonate Sheet
MAKROLON® 15 polycarbonate sheet is a new glazing solution that offers long-term weatherability and is backed by a 15 year performance warranty. It is an excellent choice for glazing applications where there is potential for glass breakage. These applications include schools, public buildings, transportation centers, and in areas where high traffic and vandalism are present.
