Curbell Plastics, Inc. (a subsidiary of Curbell, Inc.) is aprivately held company headquartered in Orchard Park, NY.
With multiple sales and warehouse locations throughout the
United States, Curbell has been one of the nation’s premier
suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives,
and prototyping materials for over 65 years.
Machine Shop Roots
Curbell Machine Company was founded in 1942 as a smallmachine shop in the heart of Buffalo, NY’s industrial district.
Originally an in-house machine shop for a local pasta manufacturer, the company discovered a new niche when approached by a local aircraft company to fabricate components from a relatively new material called “plastic.” As the machine shop’s expertise in plastic fabrication grew, other aerospace companies joined their client list, and soon the company became a separate entity, focusing exclusively on the custom fabrication of plastic components. The new company took the name “Curbell” from two of their early customers, Curtiss-Wright and Bell Aircraft.
Early Expansion
After World War II, the US chemical industry started introducing numerous polymer materials into the market place. These manufacturers approached Curbell Machine Company to become a distributor for their new materials.Curbell’s distribution efforts were so successful, they quickly spread across the state. To reflect the expanded nature of their operation, the company incorporated and changed their name to Curbell, Inc. Curbell continued to expand, and by the late 1970s, the company embarked upon on a program to create a national distribution network.
Today, Curbell Plastics operates in cities across the United States supplying hundreds of plastic materials nationwide. To ensure the shortest lead time possible for Curbell's customers, locations are stocked with materials our customers need and use.
